Mental Health Parity Workshops in May

Mental Health Parity 2019As part of May is Mental Health Month, RIPIN is teaming up with the RI Parity Project for a special workshop for patients and providers.

“Discrimination and Mental Health Parity” is a 90-minute workshop where you will learn your rights under federal and state mental health parity laws.

Insurance companies are required to provide coverage for mental health and substance use disorder services at the same level they cover physical health services. However, lack of mental health parity in insurance coverage is a form of discrimination that people with mental health and substance use disorders continue to experience.

This workshop will:

  • Inform attendees about existing parity law
  • Guide attendees in spotting and responding to potential parity violations
  • Provide tips and tools to help attendees advocate for themselves, a family member, or their patients to obtain the mental health benefits they need.

Discrimination and Mental Health Parity for Providers and Staff – May 14, 9-10:30 AM

Discrimination and Mental Health Parity for Community Members – May 23, 6-7:30 PM
