The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the federal law concerning the
education of students with disabilities, and the Regulations of the Rhode Island Board of
Regents for Elementary and Secondary Education Governing the Education of Children
with Disabilities, requires schools to provide you, the parents of a child with a disability,
with a notice containing a full explanation of the procedural safeguards (your rights) available
under IDEA and R.I. Department of Education regulations.
