Most students with IEPs take the same standardized tests as their peers without IEPs. A small number of students with IEPs take alternate assessments, which aren’t based on grade-level academic standards. Here’s more information on what you need to know.

The (DLM) Dynamic Learning Maps alternate assessments are designed for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The structure of the alternate assessments are designed around the students’ physical and cognitive disabilities in a way that allows them to answer test questions and participate in the test as independently as possible.
