RIPIN Supports Cover All Kids, investments in Early Intervention

RIPIN Executive Director Sam Salganik before the Rhode Island House Committee on Finance, March 3, 2022

RIPIN Executive Director Sam Salganik was proud to join many other advocates at the State House yesterday in support of health coverage for all children and mothers and for investments in Rhode Island’s Early Intervention system.

Governor Dan McKee’s proposed budget for the coming fiscal year includes expanding Medicaid coverage to all Rhode Island children and to all women up to 12 months post-partum regardless of their immigration status.

The budget also includes a badly needed one time investment in Rhode Island’s Early Intervention (EI) system which is critical for babies born with disabilities and their families. While this one time funding will certainly help, RIPIN is also calling for greater sustained investment in EI.

RIPIN also testified in support of companion legislation for these efforts in the Rhode Island Senate.
