Family Health Programs

RIPIN promotes access to comprehensive, high-quality services so that all Rhode Islanders may achieve their optimal state of health.  Through a collaborative partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Health, RIPIN Peer Professionals:

Our Family Health Programs include:

  • Special Health Care Needs – A program to achieve community-based systems of services for children and youth with special health needs and their families.
  • Birth Defects – Our health education specialists collect data regarding birth defects and shares with the Rhode Island Department of Health and other professionals to identify better and monitor birth defects to enhance learning about birth defects and to improve birth outcomes
  • Immunizations – Our health education specialists connect with home child care providers to educate about the importance of vaccinations and helps ensure all kids are vaccinated according to the recommended Childhood Immunization Schedule
  • RI Special Needs Registry – Our health education specialists provide outreach to organizations, professionals, and individuals to provide information regarding the Special Needs Registry and assists individuals with special needs with completing the registration process that will assist local emergency responders to help individuals with special needs in the event of an emergency.
  • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) –Our health education specialists assist in quality assurance and ensure compliance with WIC regulations and standards.  WIC is a program to safeguard the health of low-income parents, infants, and children who are at nutrition risk. Our health education specialists also support pregnant and breastfeeding mothers to successfully breastfeed their babies at Baby Café support groups.
